Movies 4 U supports Cans for Films Festival
Movies 4U Karrinyup, Network Video, Foodbank and The Holy Cross Anglican Church at Hammersly are reaching out during July to help Australia’s hungry.
Hunger is our country’s hidden epidemic. Every year in Australia, two million people rely on food relief to survive from day to day – one million of these Australians are children. Every day one million children go to school without breakfast or to bed without dinner. This number is growing every year.
Throughout July, Movies 4U Karrinyup is partnering with Network Video, Foodbank, Australia’s largest hunger relief charity for the inaugural national Cans4Films Festival, a nation-wide food drive to raise not just awareness, but to raise food donations that offer practical relief to hungry Australians. That makes July the month to get your cans out! Our aim at Movies 4 U Karrinyup is to collect over 500 cans of food in July for those in need. Everyone who brings a can of food to Network Video Blayney will receive a weekly DVD rental absolutely free . . . and if you donate two cans you’ll take three weekly DVD rentals home with you! Not to mention the virtuous, aw-shucks glow that comes with doing something for others. All cans of food will be donated to a local charity and distributed to people who would otherwise go hungry. The campaign goal is to raise 200,000 cans – or 50 tonnes – of food nationally. So this July, if someone says, “Show us your cans”, it’s all for a good cause: the Cans4Films Festival at Network Video.
