KARRINYUP TO SHOWCASE A NEW GENERATION OF FASHION

Karrinyup Shopping Centre reinforces its commitment to Western Australian fashion next week, playing a pivotal role in the prestigious New Generation Showcase Midday Show.

The hottest names in WA fashion will hit the catwalk in the Karrinyup Centre Court at Midday on Thursday, 25 October with Peter Morrissey in the front row for the WA leg of the New Generation Showcase.

Renowned local designers Alvin Fernandez, Christine Tang, Christina Hennessey, Katou Rigg and Joanie Wong were selected for the event which is a new highlight of the NRA Australian Fashion Design Awards.

The Karrinyup New Generation Showcase is the last of six shows held across Australia highlighting the 25 best new labels to hit fashion-retail in the past five years.

Five of those outstanding designers will be chosen to present their designs at the 27th NRA Australian Fashion Design Awards to be held in the Gold Coast and aired live on the Nine Network next March.

NRA Events Director Donna Caley said the designers are standouts and were selected for the quality of their designs.

“Whether their style is cutting edge or a modern take on classic pieces, these are the designers to watch,” Ms Caley said.

As part of the event, 190 special guests from the Karrinyup VIP Online Membership and media will sip champagne and enjoy the spectacle of five of WA’s most outstanding fashion designers showcasing their very best designs.

Karrinyup Centre Manager Karen Draper said, “Karrinyup’s involvement in the New Generation Showcase is an exciting opportunity to promote the amazing talents of our emerging WA designers. We are delighted to be able to host this special event and know the shopping public will be inspired by what they see.”

In the lead up to the New Generation Showcase, Karrinyup will host a series of fashion parades based on the latest season looks; Sporty Chic and Electric Colour. These will run from Monday 22 October until Wednesday 24 October, with parades at 11am and 12.30 pm daily in centre court.

“The Sporty Chic and Electric Colour Fashion Parades are a great opportunity for Karrinyup retailers to launch the hot new fashion trends for summer,” said Ms Draper.
