Trigg Island Tower to Tower Swimthru
Karrinyup is a long term sponsor of the Trigg Island Surf Lifesaving Club 'Tower to Tower' Swimthru. The swimthru is a 1800m ocean swim with a deep water start in front of Observation City in Scarborough with finish on the beach in front of the look out tower at Trigg. Karrinyup provide shopping vouchers as prizes for the male and female age group winners.
The 5th Tower to Tower swimthru was held on Saturday the 18th of December in perfect conditions. Competitors were greeted with a light easterly breeze, no swell and no stingers. A record 282 entries were received with 265 starters. Full results can be found at
http://triggisland.com/Surf-Sports/results.html . Oldest competitors were Eli Kitay at 86 and Perc Edwards at 85 pictured. The other photo is of the open male placegetters. Dual Olympian Travis Nederpelt (centre) successfully defended his title once again. Heidi Gan was the first female to finish.
The Tower to Tower is a permanent fixture on the WA Open Water Swim calendar and a major fund raiser for the TISLSC. Proceeds are deposited into the club Building Fund where clubroom extensions are planned for later this year.
